Resources

This site is about growing vegan, so everything here sticks to nutrients, soil, and inputs. But you still need to know how to actually run a grow, and none of that is vegan-specific.

These are the places and people I’ve enjoyed watching and learning from, and want to share with others. I prefer smaller orgs or individual growers just doing their own thing and old-school knowledge, the list reflects that.

A big tip – look at what others do, what’s ‘common’ then reverse that – why is it popular, can it be refined, what’s the best way to do it? Where’s the idea come from originally, what do experienced growers say? That tends to lead to interesting spaces.

Learning to grow

Grow Weed Easy
The best starting point if you’ve never grown before. Plain-language guides that walk you through a whole grow start to finish without assuming you know anything yet.

Jorge Cervantes
The old master. Everything he’s put out is worth your time.

r/microgrowery
The most useful cannabis subreddit for home growers. Good for troubleshooting, second opinions, and seeing a huge range of setups and what works.

ICMag
Where the deep knowledge lives. Old forum, serious growers, and the place to go when you want to read people who’ve been doing this for decades get into the weeds on a specific strain or technique.

GrowDiaries
Real grow logs from real people, start to finish, with the nutrients and numbers they used. Great for seeing how a specific strain or product actually performs before you commit.

Genetics and seeds

SeedFinder
The reference database for strain lineage. When you want to know what actually crossed into what, check here before you trust anyone’s marketing copy.

Mt Zion Seeds
Preservation breeder doing genuinely important work. His Zion Train lines are serious breeding projects, and the Fox Grex is an attempt to bake an enormous amount of genetics into one line for pheno hunting. Solid prices and the ethos is right.

Berserk Genetics
Some of the best auto genetics around, from a smaller breeder who’s clearly putting in the work and doing interesting things.

Great Lakes Genetics
Seed bank with a focus on American breeders, fair pricing, lots of freebies, fast shipping, and genuinely good people.

Missouri Dad Grower
Small breeder doing his thing. Interesting lines, amazing pricing.

The Real Seed Company
Posts on Reddit regularly, seems to be doing genuine work for the plant. Some of the best landrace genetics I’ve come across.

Youtubes

Pirateboarder Life
Does amazing things with the plant — bonsai to massive trees. Presents info in an easy to follow way and genuinely embodies the spirit of cannabis.

Catz Weeds
Not active anymore, but left behind a ton of solid reference videos on grow techniques and getting started. Worth digging through the back catalog.
